Community Service Programs

Booker T. Washington Bridging the Digital Divide Program is dedicated to eliminating the digital divide in communities in San Francisco. We seek to enhance technology skills and increase the accessibility of technology to low-income members of our community. Booker T. recognizes the need for people of all socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds to gain access to the digital world by owning a home computer and acquiring technological knowledge and skills as fundamental steps toward individual self-sufficiency and empowerment.

Bridging the Digital Divide provides computer training that brings practical computer use and the internet to low-income homes, including the neighboring public housing project, Westside Courts.Participants are trained in basic computer skills, email basics and internet use. Each household is provided a computer after completing 8 hours of training and a skills assessment.

Booker T. Washington Senior Club meets twice a month at the center. The Senior Club has meetings to celebrate birthdays, organize social gatherings and to talk about senior related issues.

Booker T. Washington CSC Food Pantry is organized and staffed by our senior volunteers. The pantry provides weekly produce, bread, dry foods and can goods to families in need. The also provides emergency food.
